Yes, boudoir is for beginners. It's for anyone, and there is no modeling experience necessary. Most of the women I photograph are normal, everyday women who have never done anything like this before, and who are very nervous about having to know what to do with their bodies in front of a camera. This is my normal, and I don't expect you to know anything about posing. In this Connecticut boudoir studio, I rarely work with models, though when I do, they tell me they appreciate that I pose and direct more than any photographer they've ever worked with. Hey, I'm efficient and I know what looks good 🙂 

There are so many reasons, and each is personal to the individual.

Some women have a very difficult time shifting their focus away from their insecurities, and can't quite see what makes them beautiful — they come here to get past that. 

Some women have undergone surgeries leaving them large scars, or cancer treatments taking away their hair, breasts, etc. They come to be photographed to feel better in their changing bodies, to see themselves past the scars, or even to embrace the scars. 

Some women have been traumatized through relationships and are trying to re-discover themselves through the noise; to reinvent themselves, and move beyond the mental scars that have been holding them back, in order to shift towards peace and growth. 

Some women find that they're at a point in their journey where all their hard work has paid off, and they're doing this as a celebration of how far they've come. 

Some women book this session with the idea of giving the album as an intimate gift to their partner, only to discover it was so much more for them than they initially imagined. 

There is no best answer, and no wrong answer — women choose to do a boudoir session to see themselves in a new light, through a new lens, to discover something they've been missing. Once they see it, they can't unsee it, and that's the beginning of growth.

No, you do not need to wear lingerie for a boudoir session — I know lingerie is not for everyone, and it's not necessary for the success of your session. There are so many more options, and I'm happy to give you guidance there. In fact, there's a whole section of my Amazon storefront dedicated to non-lingerie pieces that work great. 

A white button down shirt can feel and look just as sexy as a strappy piece of lingerie; it's your energy and how you wear it that matters much more, and you can leave those parts to me ✨ We show as little or as much skin as you're comfortable with, and you just follow my lead.

Yes, I will help you choose your boudoir outfits. Not only will I provide you with my very own La Femme Boudoir Lingerie Guide upon booking, but I've also set up an Amazon storefront to offer you suggestions on easy, quick purchases that work well for all different body shapes and sizes. I'm also available to help you with outfit guidance throughout the process. 

What you should wear for your boudoir shoot comes down to your own personal style and what would make you feel the most beautiful and confident to wear. You want to feel like a more elevated version of yourself, not someone you aren't. You can show as little or as much skin as you'd like, and your comfort level is taken into consideration while I help you decide what to wear and how to photograph you. Keep in mind that when you visit the Connecticut boudoir studio, you'll want to bring something comfortable to wear for lunch break between the shoot and the reveal.

Album Collections start at $1550. Collections include your full-day boudoir experience plus a custom-designed album of your favorite images, delivered straight to your door.  Most collections include a digital gallery, and you can always order prints, wall portraits, and other items depending on the most current offerings.

To lock in your date, a deposit of $500 is due upon booking. This fee will be applied to your final collection total.

For couples, the deposit is $750, and $500 of that will be applied to collection.

Pre-and Post-shoot payment plans are available.

As soon as we lock in our session date, I'll send you some resources I've written especially for clients of La Femme Boudoir. I want this experience to be as fun, exciting, and stress-free as possible, and I make myself available for any questions and concerns you might have throughout the process. 

I've been surrounded by photography my entire life. My parents were Master Photographers and former international print competition judges, and my brother a renowned wedding photographer in Connecticut. He and I both started photographing weddings with my parents as young teens, and from there, I fell in love with boudoir photography. Having struggled with my own insecurities, it felt so great to be able to capture women in a way that made them feel more confident about themselves and provide them with photos they feel proud of.

Before boudoir photography was even a thing, I had a vision in my mind of what I felt drawn to capture on camera - it was just difficult to find the inspiration to move forward with it before Pinterest and Instagram existed. Picture 1991: Demi Moore posing nude, 7 months pregnant, for Vanity Fair, and remember how controversial it was. Those are the portraits that inspired me, but publicly, they were few and far between.

In 2011, after college and a brief job in the finance world, I re-joined my parents' business, Photo Expressions, and started really focusing in on boudoir photography. I formally established the La Femme Boudoir brand in 2012, and left my parents's company to start my own in 2017.

I've photographed hundreds of women now, and the experience just keeps getting better. I often continue on with my boudoir clients to photograph their maternity sessions, newborns, family sessions, and creative branding sessions, and I love that I can continue supporting them throughout their milestones, through my lens. 

Yes, payment plans are available and encouraged.

To start, you'll lock in your session with the $500 deposit. Between the time of booking and your shoot date, I'll get you paid up to the first collection. Once you see your photos during the same-day reveal, you can choose to go with whichever collection you'd like. All payments made so far will act as a credit toward your final balance. A payment plan will also be available for any remaining balances. 

I'll help you plan your payments to stay comfortably within your budget.

Ultimately, yes, but the goal is to use lighting, my equipment, and posing to accentuate your best features and bring out the best version of you in the camera. During the short break between your shoot and the same-day reveal, I'll only have time to make adjustments to light, crops, and create some black and white versions. At first reveal, you'll see the images basically as they were taken in the camera, and you'll probably be shocked at how great you look even without retouching!

Once we narrow your images down to the ones you'll keep, we can review the retouching process and you can make any specific retouch requests. I will use Photoshop for a bit of skin smoothing, blemish and bruise removal, minimize flyaway hairs, rid the eye of distractions like tags we forgot to remove, and probably eliminate a light switch or two. 

All that being said, we are women and we are human - we age, we have curves, and our bodies can perform miracles. My hope is that we can celebrate all that and focus less on what needs to be "fixed". 

Yes, literally from head to toe. Before I even take my camera out, I'll go through some basic posing pointers with you — common directions you'll hear from me throughout the session so you know what I mean by them and will feel less self-conscious to start. Throughout the session I'll direct you from head to toe, seamlessly flowing from one pose into the next, and you just follow my lead. I do not have a generic posing flow I use for every single session — different women, different bodies, different comfort levels, different reasons that brought you here in the first place... those all come into play while I'm posing you. This session will be all your own, a custom experience specifically focused on you.

Yes, I do photograph couples boudoir sessions. I would absolutely love to be able to capture the connection between you and your person and turn your love into art. I have photographed many couples boudoir sessions, and through my own personal couples boudoir experience, I know just how electric the experience is. It truly is magical to have your love documented this way.

Whether we are in my Connecticut boudoir studio, your own personal space, or on an exotic getaway, couples boudoir sessions are welcome and encouraged.

Yes I do often, and many of my boudoir clients return for their maternity sessions. They are near and dear to my heart— I cherish my own maternity photos so much, and I consider being able to photograph your journey an honor.

This can be a Mama only session, a maternity session with your partner, or a maternity session with the family if you already have little ones.  It can take place in the studio, in your home, or somewhere outdoors... all combinations are welcome. And if you book your maternity session within a year of your last session, you'll get access to exclusive re-booking prices.

Yes, though not often, and I call them Boudoir Intro Sessions. They're offered on select days of the year, and notifications are sent via the email list. These sessions are an opportunity for new clients to "dip their toe" and see what a full boudoir session experience could be like. If you choose to book a full session following the Intro session, you'll be offered a collection credit toward the full session.
